Swedish Automotive Supplier Eliminates Annual Repainting Cycle
A tier-1 automotive components supplier was repainting 24 forklift crossing zones every 8 months. Paint degraded rapidly under heavy rubber-wheeled traffic, and each repainting cycle required a 4-hour production shutdown per zone — costing an estimated 340,000 SEK annually in materials and lost output.
LaserBeam Move units were installed above all 24 crossing zones over a single weekend. Three preset layouts were configured: standard shift, restricted maintenance mode, and emergency evacuation. Switching between layouts is now triggered automatically by the shift management system via PLC signal.
"We used to shut down sections of the floor to repaint. Now we change the entire layout from a tablet. It's a fundamentally different way of working."
Regional Distribution Centre Achieves Zero Repainting in 18 Months
A high-throughput distribution centre with 60,000 m² of floor space was spending 210,000 SEK per year on floor marking maintenance. Epoxy-painted pedestrian walkways in the pick-and-pack zone were being renewed every 6 months due to constant pallet jack traffic. Safety audits repeatedly flagged deteriorated markings as a risk.
LaserBeam Core units were deployed along the 14 primary pedestrian corridors, projecting clearly-defined walkway boundaries onto the concrete floor. ISO-compliant crossing symbols were added at all 9 vehicle crossing points. Installation was completed without stopping operations.
"The safety auditors noticed immediately. We went from repeated findings about faded markings to zero findings in two consecutive audits."
